originally, i made one of these (but much larger) as a gift for a tooth-obsessed friend.
and then i started making them for my nephew for each tooth that he lost. (he got one for each of the four front ones -- that's it!) i know that he loves his toothman (and so do his parents) and i love making them, so i made up a few extras and they all sold and so i've made up some more.
each tooth buddy is definitely unique. i draw the shape onto the (wrongside of the) fabric and then add his button eyes and mouth and sew him up and i never quite know how he's gonna look until i turn him right-side out and stuff him and stitch him up. i love it; they've all got such personality.
though this guy would make a great gift for any friend, i have stamped up and am including four "tooth fairy" envelopes just in case you'd like him to help out with the tooth fairy duties. the child can put the tooth in the envelope and put it under his or her pillow then the tooth fairy can leave the loot in that same envelope, or a new one, or just wherever he/she sees fit. (the photo of the tooth buddy and envelopes is different than the tooth buddy you are ordering -- but the envelopes are the same!)

please note -- while toothman is stitched up well and good, and his eyes are sewn on triple, quadruple, or more times, this is NOT intended for wee ones who would try to chew the eyes off or to chew on the legs. my nephew is five and he's totally content with throwing his toothmen around and sleeping with them and that all works out fine -- but, you know, i gotta put that little disclaimer out there.
